After a deciding to write a blog and set it up and started tinkering I stopped.. why.. well my wife left me so things went a tad slow and I didn’t have the oomph to get going.
I am now in a place that I am sort of happy again so hopefully I will start posting shortly, already added some extras to the blog that I haven’t made live yet but will do shortly.
Post to come shortly will be related to Nagios/PHP/Ubuntu etc, more of a technical nature but maybe the odd personal one.
Lets see if I can keep this up this time!
We just had an issue at one of our customer sites when a user tried installing a new version of Ghostscript, we still haven’t found what actually happened / caused the issue and are still investigating but one thing was that we couldn’t run any of the most basic commands like ls, cp etc.
Just hoping that some one else googling for this will help them at least get started fixing there issues.
Running CentOS 4.3 ( 32bit ) ( I know it’s OLD ) but it’s running a legacy system which is about to be upgraded so the company doesn’t want to make it compliant just yet otherwise noones going to want to upgrade to the new system :).
Our fix was to do this was :
export LD_PRELOAD /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0
This at least got us using the system, and we are still investigating causes and full fixes which I will add as an updater later.
ls: /lib/libpthread.so.0: version `GLIBC_2.3.3' not found (required by /lib/tls/librt.so.1)
So after spending 20-30 mins working out why Docky shows two Icons when I open Netbeans I found a bug on Launchpad.net
After reading through the comments I found the fix from one of the Docky Devs which is found here.
As I was on a roll I thought, why not contact Netbeans and ask them to add it to the installer, so five minutes later I had registered and after a search on the Bugzilla data base found that no one else had raised this bug I submitted it.
Let’s hope that I don’t get shot down for doing something wrong but at least I’ve made a start to improving my contributions to my use of Ubuntu.
Update : Spelling mistake, thanks Matt
Well here goes, I know it won’t be the highest rated blog but I do want to start updating what I do online, what I have found and how I may have fixed something as you can see by my next post.
I hope you find some of the stuff that I start blogging about useful.
